We’re always looking for the next chance to squad up with our pals for some co-op game antics, and Nexon’s The First Descendant is primed to give you the action fix you’re after. However, like most PlayStation and Xbox games these days, it ain’t a small download, but luckily The First Descendant preload period is now live for everyone.
Whether you’re playing on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X|S consoles, The First Descendant preload begins from Sunday, June 30, 2024, and will last until Monday, July 1, 2024. Following this, Nexon’s forthcoming RPG game will open the floodgates for players at the following launch times on Tuesday, July 2, 2024:

- 7:00AM GMT
- 9:00AM CEST
- 4:00PM KST
- 4:00PM JST
With Nexon allowing you to get ahead of the download curb early, it is worth noting that The First Descendant will consume around 50 GB of your console’s storage, according to the official Xbox Marketplace listing. Unless you’ve got one of the best PS5 SDDs or Xbox storage expansions out there, it is probably worth checking if there are any titles you can delete to make room for the new PS5 game and new Xbox game.
If you need a quick recap of what Nexon’s brand-new co-op game is all about, don’t worry, we can get you up to speed. According to the developer, it expresses that “players become a Descendant whose mission is to combat alien invaders, The Vulgus who crossed dimensions over 100 years ago and brought with them the devastating Colossi.” Pretty heavy stuff, isn’t it? Along the way, you can expect to level up your own Descendant, gain new weapons and abilities to ensure that humanity isn’t completely wiped out.
With that comes exceptionally thrilling boss fights and raids, all of which you play solo or with up to three friends. We’ve already had some hands-on time with the game in our The First Descendant preview, where Aaron notes that “though its presentation is neat, and its narrative beats offer enough to hook you in, the developer is going to need to present a robust post-launch roadmap if it’s to survive the unforgiving live-service landscape.” Hopefully, we don’t have another Anthem on our hands.
