Xbox Game Pass continues to amaze with the value it offers subscribers, and it’s showing no signs of letting up. September 2024’s new Game Pass games lineup not only brings some excellent older titles to subscribers, but it’s laden with brand-new, day-one releases too.
The full Xbox Game Pass games library is already bursting at the seams, and it includes some of the best games of all time. But here we’ll bring you the confirmed lineup of new Xbox Game Pass titles for this month and highlight the ones we think you absolutely must play. From charming indies, to first-party Xbox exclusives, to some of the best-selling games of all time, any new additions will be listed here. We’ll also list any confirmed new Game Pass games for next month too so you can really stay ahead of the, erm, game.
New Game Pass games September 2024
The new Game Pass games for September that have been confirmed by Xbox are:
- Star Trucker (Console, PC, Cloud) – September 3, day one release
- Age of Mythology Retold (Xbox Series X|S, PC, Cloud) – September 4, day one release
- Expeditions: A MudRunner Game (Console, PC, Cloud) – September 5
- Riders Republic (Console, PC, Cloud) – September 11
- Train Sim World 5 (Console, PC, Cloud) – September 17, day one release
- Frostpunk 2 (PC only) – September 20, day one release
- Ara: History Untold (PC only) – September 24, day one release
As you can see, September is stacked with brand new games that are launching straight into the service. Console players should note though that the highly-anticipated remake of Age of Mythology is only available on Xbox Series X|S and not on last-gen hardware. Plus, Frostpunk 2 and Ara: History Untold are only coming to PC at launch, but console versions are expected to arrive later down the line.
Below we’ve highlighted our favorite additions to this month’s lineup so far that you should definitely pick up and play when they arrive.
Star Trucker
Blending the therapeutic, precise driving action of EuroTruck Simulator with a space-faring adventure like Starfield, Star Trucker puts you at the controls of a big rig spaceship.
You’ll be transporting various packages and cargoes to every corner of its galactic map, upgrading and maintaining your ship as you go. Each sector of the map represents a unique area for you to explore.
While there are no actual roads in space (naturally) there are dedicated space highways that you should stick to. Sure, straying outside of these may give you a shortcut, but be prepared to navigate your way through lots of space debris which could damage your ship and your cargo. Dangerous driving and collisions while on the highways could also lend you with fines, which will eat away at your earnings.
Expeditions: A MudRunner Game
Another methodical driving game in this month’s lineup is Expeditions – however this one is firmly on solid ground. This rugged, off-road adventure tasks you with navigating your way through the wilderness of Arizona.
There are three classes of vehicle to choose from – light scout, heavy scout, or heavy truck. Each comes with its own different benefits and driving feel. But you’ve got plenty more at your disposal. As well as planning your expedition before heading out on the map and recruiting specialists that can give you certain bonuses and boosts, you’ve got access to an array of gadgets that can survey the terrain ahead or get you and your fellow explorers out of trouble. Winches, drones, and metal detectors, and more can be utilized.
While Expeditions can be a relaxing but tactical solo adventure, it really shines as a co-op game. So, if your pals are also subbed to Game Pass, make sure you get them involved.

- Call of Duty Black Ops 6 (Console, PC) – October 25, day one release
Yes, for the first time Call of Duty will be on Game Pass thanks to the day one launch of Black Ops 6. This is arguably the biggest, most high-profile game to come to Game Pass right out of the gate. While recent CoDs have underwhelmed, Black Ops 6 is shaping up to be one of the best entries in the series for years.
